I grew up to the smell of the Yesmeen flower in my mother’s garden. Yesmeen, the Arabic name for the Jasmin flower, reminds me of my region, the Middle East, and evokes in me a sense of nostalgia. When I immigrated to Canada with my kids, I wanted to keep them connected with their region, their heritage, their culture and their language so I started reading to them educational books in Arabic and providing them with fun toys in Arabic. And they love it!
That’s when the idea for Yesmeen came along; a platform
for children from the region and beyond, to learn Arabic while having fun.
